Let's be honest, no one likes asking for money. The fact that you're visiting this site, let alone this page, means the world to us.
Currently, we are fortunate enough to have the support of iFixit, Wild West Hackin' Fest, and The DefCon Makers' Village which enables us to provide free soldering workshops at most of the conferences we attend. That being said, funding is not guaranteed and the budget is tight. Donations of any amount are appreciated and will help us continue to improve upon our workshops, SAOs, challenge coins, and any future board designs.
The Cost of Business
Printed Circuit Boards
Each board we produce costs us a little under $5 before we can get it into your hands. This includes the price of the boards, components, shipping, and R&D costs (labor not included).
Travel
We estimate travel costs at $2000/person/conference. Depending on the conference, some of that might be covered by the host or our employers; however, funding is not guaranteed and the budget is tight.
Grand Total
When it is all said and done, a single conference can cost upwards of $7000. We can sell boards and host paid workshops to get back some of that cost, but it is rare for us to break even. We're happy to invest in our community and don't count the hours it costs us to make this happen. We only count the dollars to make this thing sustainable.
