Hello All!
First off, thank you so much for your interest in 615-Labs’ first ever BATTLE JACKET RAFFLE!

What the heck is a battle jacket? Put simply, it’s a hacker thing, based on 80s, 90s, and 00s cyberpunk style blended with your own personal touch of patches, spikes, stickers, enamel pins, and anything else you can hang off it to strut your inner hacker. We’ve pre-added some goodies to this battle jacket to get you started and hope you enjoy our first year’s effort in what we’re hoping is a trend for many years to come.
Also…
Even if you don’t win the battle jacket, you’ll still be entered in for a chance to win the 2nd and 3rd place prizes!
1st place: The Battle Jacket, a Challenge Coin Kit from 615-Labs, & All 3 of this year’s SAOs
2nd place: A Build-A-Badge Kit & 2 of your choosing between our Challenge Coins or our 3 SAOs
3rd place: will receive a 615-Labs SAO of your choice & a Challenge Coin Kit
NOTE: The Challenge coin kits are electronic and double as SAOs (we think they’re pretty cool)
What size is it? This jacket is a unisex XL; however, it fits more like a large on our friend Alchemmer. So we’re hoping whoever gets it can wear it with pride. We’re hoping to have more options next year but money wasn’t the only budget this year. Time was of the essence!
Who made it? Alchemmer’s significant other was kind enough to donate her time and efforts to give us this jacket. She also figured it was the only way to get his attention and do something for con since he’s usually welded to a keyboard or a soldering iron. If you have suggestions for the next battle jacket or are interested in your own custom battle jacket, we’ll do our best to take them all down and provide some links to make your own.
How can I win the Battle Jacket? Those who attend the ‘Build-a-Badge’ workshops with interest in the battle jackets are automatically entered in for 10 free entries to win the battle jacket. Anyone else whose interested in the battle jacket can donate any amount you would like to Alchemmer, MLP, or M-Nelly in the Maker’s Village.
When / How do we know the results of the Raffle? We’ll ask you to join our 615-Labs Discord: https://discord.gg/54hYrz9qg and we’ll tack down your handle and add it to the prize pool.
On Saturday, Aug. 8th @1600hrs (4pm) PDT we’ll announce the winner on discord with an all ping. You’ll need to respond within an hour before we pick the next person. We’ll ’@’ you and DM you to make sure you have the message, but we have to be mindful of the time given that some of the con-goers will be leaving Sunday morning.

Why we’re doing the raffle… 615 Labs was started to help people within our community. Whether it’s teaching people to solder at one of the local or national conferences we attend, helping our villages project plan and prepare to give you great experiences, or simply reaching out to the communities in other ways to help any budding hacker, young or old, realize their passions, 615-Labs just wants to give back to the communities and individual contributors that have given so much to us when we started our own humble journeys.
Our badge projects, challenge coins, SAOs, free workshop PCBs, resources, and countless hours invested to make this all possible has been a crazy ride; however, it’s taken a lot of time and investment to get to this point. Last year at DC33, we received so many people that wanted to donate directly to the cause and expected nothing in return.
We wanted to make this year special and have something to give back to those that wanted to donate and help our cause. We work in the Maker’s Village here at DefCon, but we also work our local B-Sides, Wild West Hackin’ Fest, and other conferences local to us. Currently, we’re just three guys and several extremely dedicated volunteers, but in the future we would like to morph into our own community. Truth be told, we don’t even know what that would really look like, but it’s more than just an idea, and we’ve lived the experience first hand that it’s not just intelligence that makes a hacker: It’s a mindset the drives curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to try something new in a world filled with the mundane, riddled with post-modern exposure, and dripping with the opinions of those who dare not touch grass.
F^#& that…we’re hackers empowering the next generation to think for themselves. Be curious, stay creative, and above all, don’t let the bastards grind you down.
